STUDENT NOTES

TEACHER NOTES

·      you are going to play a board game on the computer

·      you will work with a partner

·      one of you will be the tortoise and the other one will be the hare

·      later, you can download the board game.

·      you should save the board game to your hard drive

·      this unit of work may take you a few lessons to complete, so make sure you name your board game so you can find it again next lesson!

·        if you see a hare for your activity, you can move on the board game for that activity

·      you don’t move on the board game for all activities – watch for the hare

·    four hares means you will move four times for that activity

·       this is a Chance and Data unit of work, aimed at Level 4 students

·       if you want a hard copy of this unit, click here and print to your local printer

·       this unit is designed to be delivered solely on a computer

·       teacher direction and explanation will be required for students for many activities

·       students work in pairs

·       ensure students save their board game file in a retrievable location so they can continue working from where they left off each lesson

·       some activities are ‘scaffolding’ activities and do not require students to move on the board game

·       when students are required to move on the board game, written instructions are given and the symbol  is displayed.

·       as an example,  if four hares are shown at the bottom of an activity, the student will be given an opportunity to move four times on the board game for that activity

·       on each activity page the blue-framed box is solely for teacher use and the red framed box is solely for student use (written in the 1st person in simpler language)
